Sur une plage du sud de l’île, Raphaël, un enfant haïtien abandonné à la naissance, est élevé dans le plus grand dénuement par une sexagénaire blanche. Elle a tout quitté quand on le lui a confié et lutte depuis dix ans pour devenir sa mère légale. Dans un Haïti tourmenté et sur cette plage luxuriante, Raphaël, enfant rayonnant, tente de trouver le chemin de sa propre vie. Il regarde Diane, prisonnière de l’ile, se débattre dans les méandres de l’adoption, jusqu’au renoncement. Entre les 9 et 14 ans de l’enfant le film construit, dans le passage de l’enfance à l’adolescence, une leçon de résilience.

On a beach in the south of the island, Raphaël, a Haitian child abandoned at birth, is raised in the greatest poverty by a white woman in her sixties. She left everything behind when he was entrusted to her, and has been fighting for ten years to become his legal mother. In a troubled Haiti and on this luxurious beach, Raphaël, a brilliant child, tries to find his own way in life. He watches Diane, as prisoner off the island, struggles through the adoption process to the point of giving up.
